Can a small-form-factor PC do 4K gaming?

Yes. A small case does not cap performance; the graphics card does. By our estimates, an RTX 5070 Ti or Radeon RX 9070 XT averages about 65 fps at 4K in demanding games at high settings, an RTX 5080 about 74 and an RTX 5090 over 100. Cards below that class, such as the RTX 5070 or RX 9070, are 1440p cards that can play lighter games at 4K.

What 4K asks of a small case

4K-class cards are long and thick, so the case has to clear them: many 10-litre cases don’t take a three-slot 5080, while 15 to 25 litre cases usually do. Check the exact card and case on Will it fit. The power supply grows too: plan for a 750 W to 850 W SFX unit for a 5070 Ti or 9070 XT, and 1000 W or more for a 5090. Cooling is the other half: these cards need a case that feeds them cool air directly.
